Has your social selling business grown stagnant? Do you feel like you have a good handle on how this industry works - you know how to sell your product and you’ve grown your audience - but still feel like you’re not advancing or seeing your income grow like it should? There are a number of factors that you can examine to try and find the root of the issue. But chances are, it’s a leadership problem. If you seem to have hit a wall in your social selling business, then that wall might actually be a lid. In this episode, Kristen discusses the Law of the Lid and how you can’t grow beyond a certain point unless you learn to grow your leadership skills as well. Let’s look at a few highlights from this episode: The differences between being a manager and being a leader Why your team’s growth might be stunted by letting them figure things out on their own Importance of solving for why your team isn’t making their business a priority Questions to ask to find out if you have a leadership gap Examples of unhealthy leadership types If you don’t have the skills to grow and develop your team - you won’t be able to close the gap and move forward in your business. But the good news is that these skills can be taught. It’s just a matter of taking responsibility as a leader and identifying what areas you need to improve upon. Before you know it, you’ll be watching your team soar to new heights with you at the helm. Happy New Year, friends! Ushering in a new year is the perfect time to start thinking about resolutions and the things you’d like to change in your life. Whether it’s to lose weight, make a bigger paycheck, or kick bad habits to the curb, this is the time to do it. But what if the reason WHY you’re making these new year’s resolutions are just as important as the resolutions themselves? When you set goals from a place of self-loathing and worthlessness, it can affect more than just those goals. That’s why, in this episode, Kristen is talking about the ‘new year, new you’ philosophy and why it can be damaging your future plans before you’ve even taken the first step Here are a few key points: Why it can be toxic when we set goals based on past disappointments What it looks like to base goals on self-love vs. self-loathing Debunking the ‘you can’t bring your old self into the new year’ belief How learning creates change No one ever said change was bad. But making changes because you hate the way you look or because you’re disappointed in yourself isn’t the most healthy approach. Instead, give yourself some compassion. Have an honest conversation about how your circumstances are the way they are, then take ownership of it. Then - from a place of self-love, create goals that align with who you want to be in the new year. We have an exciting announcement! Deciding to become a business owner is a big step in someone’s life. It’s often fueled by hopes and dreams of what the future will hold. Unfortunately, lavish lifestyles and overnight success are not the norm. It’s great to have huge long-term goals, but it can be hard to manage expectations along the way. In this episode, Kristen shares with us a couple of lessons in humility and entitlement that she had to learn the hard way. From sweeping hair to frothing milk, her path to success definitely didn’t look like what you see on social media. And that’s ok because what she learned on the journey to success helped shape the business she runs today. Let’s look at a few highlights: Kristen’s personal story of humility and managing expectations The importance of creating your own success through networking How to feel gratitude for the journey Why getting a part-time job might help keep you out of a scarcity mindset Learning humility on the way to becoming successful is a lesson all entrepreneurs should learn. Sometimes the things you need to do in order to reach your goals can feel like a step back. Taking a part-time job or learning new skills isn’t a sign of weakness. It’s a sign of strength. If you want to make career money, you have to make career moves. The biggest event of the year starts TODAY! The holidays are always crazy busy and crazy stressful. But there is one thing that can take the craziness down a few notches and bring everything into focus. And that, my friends, is gratitude. If you’re having a rough patch, like so many do during the holidays, it can be hard to feel grateful. Whether you’re short on funds, your loved ones aren’t close by, or for whatever reason - there is always something to be grateful for. And sometimes, this change in perspective can be just the bit of magic you need to make this the best season ever. In this episode, Kristen shares a personal story about the first Christmas she spent as a newlywed and how even the humblest holiday can end up being the one you’re most grateful for. Here are a few highlights: The importance of focusing on what the holiday season means to you How gratitude makes a difference in how we move through life Why gratitude can be the antidote to comparison How reflecting on past accomplishments can help change your point of view Just like how we have bad days and good, good years and bad - this can also include the holiday season. If you’re struggling this season, it doesn’t have to mean that next year will be just as rough. Hopefully, soon you’ll be able to look back on these hard seasons and feel gratitude in your heart for how far you’ve come. Focus on those who mean the most to you, and cherish the time you have. It’s that time of year again! The holidays are upon us, and that means baking cookies, holiday parties, and creating memories with your loved ones. What it doesn’t mean is letting your business suffer for it. You don’t have to turn your business off in order to be fully present with your family. Taking time away from your business in order to be fully present is the best gift you can give not only to your family but to yourself as well. That’s why in this episode, Kristen is talking about presence for the holidays and what it takes to unplug completely. Let’s look at a few highlights from this episode: What it means to be truly present - with your loved ones as well as yourself Kristen’s personal experience of unplugging for an entire week How to plan your business around your family’s holiday experience The importance of focusing on income-producing activities Where discipline and rhythm come into play when scheduling rest Putting your phone down and walking away for a few hours won’t cause your business to implode. Taking time off requires trust. Not only in your business or the systems you’ve created but also in yourself. It will still be there for you when you get back. Running a business is full of ups and downs, sort of like a rollercoaster. Some months are great, while others can fall flat. If those less-than-stellar months leave you feeling like you want to give up and hide under a rock, you might be knocking on the door to resentment. And to hear Kristen tell it, resentment is a stepping stone on the way to burnout. In this episode, she discusses how chronic disappointment from unmet expectations can put a strain on the relationship you have with your business. If you’ve felt less than enthusiastic about your business lately, you’ll want to tune in. Here are a few key points from this episode: The warning signs of heading toward resentment in your business Why setting unattainable goals can lead to disappointment How to know if you’re in a toxic relationship with your business The importance of managing expectations Just like in any relationship - feeling resentment is a warning sign that means something isn’t working and things need to change. The first step is to stop placing unfair expectations on yourself and in turn - on your business. Don’t let the status of your business define your worth. The biggest event of the year is back again! As an entrepreneur, you’ll go through many seasons with your business. And as you pass through these seasons, you’ll find yourself needing to make some adjustments to up-level your effectiveness. You might be thinking that we’re talking about big, life-changing adjustments. But actually - it’s those little tweaks that make a bigger impact on how you show up. These adjustments are what Kristen calls micro habits, and in this episode, she’s going to explain how going from macro to micro can bring big results. Here’s what she’s talking about: Why it’s important to work during your personal peak performance hours Definition of macro habits and how they are different from micro habits The undeniable benefits of regular self-care How making small adjustments with momentum can alter your course Why stagnation of routine can lead to stagnation of growth No matter how big or small your business is - you’ve got to adjust your daily habits to ensure that you continue to grow. Look at the gap between your habits as they are now and the outcome you want, and then see what adjustments you can make in order to reach those goals. The biggest event of the year is back again! Way back in episode seven, Kristen talked about success thoughts, and as it remains the most popular episode to date - she decided to do part two. Except this time around, she’ll be walking through the thoughts that can cause you to stall out and keep you from moving forward in your business. This episode is about toxic thoughts and how they can sabotage progress before you even start. Just like the saying, one bad apple ruins the bunch - one toxic thought can get in your way of creating the outcomes you’ve been working so hard for. Here’s what you can learn: The top 7 toxic thoughts that might be stalling your progress Why it’s essential to look for evidence to support your thoughts - good and bad Alternative thoughts and actions you can use to help combat toxic thoughts Why the fear of being uncomfortable is at the core of most negative thoughts Instead of diving head first into negative thought territory - first get clear on the facts. So many of our negative and toxic thoughts are based on stories that we tell ourselves and not on real data. Be honest with yourself and watch those toxic thoughts melt away. Have you ever panicked over not having enough time to get everything done, only to feel even more stressed out because you wasted what little time you DID have panicking over not having any time? Or have you ever sat down, determined to engage with your audience on social media - only to find that an hour has passed and you haven’t accomplished anything? Don’t worry. It happens to the best of us. But the good news is that there’s a strategy that might help you out, and Kristen’s here to tell you all about it. It’s called creating a time inventory. And it helps you get ultra-specific about how much time you truly spend on important tasks. And how much time you’re really just wasting. Here’s what you can learn in this episode: Kristen’s strategy for beating procrastination and the anxiety that accompanies it Why it’s important to assign and designate your time The difference between being busy and being productive The importance of allowing yourself grace when working toward breaking bad habits Being purposeful with your time can seem difficult at first. But once you are aware of exactly how much time it takes you to complete tasks that earn you money, then it becomes easier to carve that time into your busy schedule. Having hard facts in front of you should help to limit the stories you tell yourself when you feel stressed out over a lack of time. Does the thought of leaving the perceived safety of your 9-5 to become an entrepreneur scare the life out of you? If the fear of failure is holding you back, then today’s episode might help by shedding some light on a few common misconceptions about the risks of becoming a business owner. This week on the podcast, Kristen is talking about why people fail in the entrepreneurial space with the author of Unlocking Your Potential, Jeff Lerner. From humble beginnings, Jeff started as a broke jazz musician and now builds 8 and 9-figure businesses. So when it comes to separating the good from the great in business and knowing how to set yourself up for success, he knows a thing or two. Here’s what they’re talking about: Why Jeff believes employment is riskier than entrepreneurship Explanation of the time-money trade and why it might sabotage your growth Learning to become comfortable with risk How self-esteem plays a part in your success (or failure) The pitfalls of people pleasing in business Success doesn’t come from learning how to create the perfect offer or the perfect Facebook Ad. It comes from investing in skills and personal development needed in order to grow not only your bottom line but also your confidence. When you’re not hitting your sales goals, you might think there’s something wrong with either your offer or your marketing. But what so many people fail to realize is that sometimes (a lot of times, actually), the problem isn’t in your messaging or even in your product. The problem is your audience. Oversaturing your audience can create what Kristen terms “audience fatigue” and could quite possibly be what’s smothering your growth. Lead generation wants a seat at your table, and it’s time you think about how implementing an audience growth strategy can help you meet those sales goals. Listen in as Kristen goes over: An explanation of the Law of Diminishing Returns and how it could be affecting your bottom line How to recognize when your audience might be on the brink of becoming fatigued Why lead generation is vital for those in a party-based business model How you can use organic marketing (no paid ads) to grow your audience What happens when audience fatigue creates scarcity Audience fatigue can create a whole host of problems. But the biggest issue might be that you don’t recognize that it’s even a problem. Instead of panicking and thinking about switching companies or changing up your offers - think about lead generation instead and how having fresh eyes on your current offer might help your bottom line across the board. Nothing is wrong with your marketing. The problem lies in audience growth. Looking for a way to maximize your sales this upcoming holiday season? Instant gratification is great and all, but what if we told you that it might be the reason you’re not reaching your goals? Choosing the easy path in business (and in your personal life) can set you up for failure. What your brain sees as the easy choice: putting off reaching out to new leads, taking a nap instead of hitting the gym, or simply ignoring your inbox; results in getting nothing done, and you’re just left feeling frustrated and defeated. Kristen is here this week to shake things up a bit by explaining why what you THINK is easy is actually hard and what you see as hard is actually easy. It’s what she’s termed the easy/hard paradox, and it could be the key to setting you on the path to success. Listen in as she goes over these key points: When choosing what is easy turns into hard How deferring the hard compounds and creates even harder stuff later What really happens when you do the hard stuff today How restraint and delayed gratification can create financial freedom The day of reckoning that every entrepreneur faces Of course, it’s hard to get back in the saddle. But choosing the hard stuff now will create an easier path for you later on. Instead of looking for ways to get away with the bare minimum - reevaluate and try to envision how it will affect you one year, two years - even five years down the road. Then you’ll see that delaying those hard decisions will only make it harder for you to get the results you came for. Looking for a way to maximize your sales this upcoming holiday season? We all know that owning a business comes with growing pains. And there’s this myth that those hard patches end once you’ve gotten through the beginner phase. But that’s often not the case. Hard seasons come and go throughout your tenure as a CEO and business owner, and being unprepared for those seasons can leave you struggling to keep pushing. In this week’s episode, Kristen is talking about what to do when it gets hard and how the thoughts you have about those hard seasons can either crush you or move you forward. Here are a few highlights: Why you must make the decision to lean into the difficult Mindset - what are you making the hard season mean The importance of reflecting back on your why Kristen's own struggles with growth through difficult times This episode isn’t meant to discourage you. Quite the opposite. Being an entrepreneur comes with risk and heartbreak and all other sorts of hard stuff. But it can also be the most rewarding ‘career’ you’ve ever had. Have you ever said “I don’t have feelings” or “I’m not a cryer”? Newsflash: we all have feelings, but some of us are better at avoiding, hiding, and running away from them than others. Learning the important skill of feeling your feelings is imperative if you want to grow yourself as a person and a successful business owner. Yes, you can have big business success by avoiding your feelings and “just getting down to work.” But you will inevitably hit a ceiling or threshold and your business will level out. The people hitting massive goals in their life are the ones feeling massive feelings. Listen in for more: Understanding what happens when we avoid feeling uncomfortable or painful feelings How to build trust in ourselves that we can survive any emotion How feeling your feelings is the catalyst to major growth Understanding that the level of willingness to to lean into negative feelings correlates to the level of success you will have What happens when we learn to feel and practice unpleasant feelings ahead of time When we shut down our emotions, we shut down our growth. Period. You must practice creating safety to understand all of the parts of your humanness-including your emotions. This will allow for growth in your personal development and your business goals. We’ve all uttered the words, “there are only so many hours in a day.” When the day ends, and you look back over what you’ve accomplished in a 24-hour span, it might be discouraging to see so much effort being put into your business with such little return. And you might begin thinking that it just isn’t worth it anymore. But have you ever paid attention to what it is that’s actually taking up all of your time? Are you researching endlessly before putting yourself (and your business) out there? Are you consuming more content than you’re creating? If so, then you might want to check your result ratio. This week on the podcast, Kristen is discussing the concept of the result ratio and how it can help you to monitor your efforts in growing your business. Listen in as she goes over these key points: Kristen’s definition of the result ratio Why advice is always theory until you apply it to your own business How your consumption vs. creation ratio might be negatively affecting your business Why research isn’t a shortcut to growing your business How to measure and monitor your result ratio At the end of the day, you want to be able to look back and know that you’re adding to the enrichment of your life and business. Instead of drowning in research - it’s time to get out there and apply those theories in the real world. You won’t grow until you do the work. Failure isn’t forever. Failure is a stepping stone on the way to your goal. The Book Bonus is back just in time to get in on the last 90 Day Challenge of the year! The last quarter of the year is upon us. Not only is it the busiest season of the year, it’s also the last chance to check off any goals you might have set back in January. If you’re left with a goal (or several) that you’ve been slowly hacking away at or maybe too scared even to get started - Now is the time to kick it into gear before another year is gone, and you’re left with the same unmet goals as before. And that’s why Kristen is here this week to talk about how to set yourself and your business up for success before time runs out. Instead of aiming your sights on a goal, perhaps what’s needed is to enter into an agreement with yourself. Specifically a 90 Day Agreement. Let’s look at a few details: The difference between a goal and an agreement Why 90 days should be the minimum time commitment to see results Understanding why your brain is fighting your progress and how to overcome those thoughts Motivation - why it isn’t always enough to keep you going Before you hang your hat and declare this year a wash - take a bold step and commit to these last 90 days. You’ll never know until you truly try, and wouldn’t it be glorious to make some progress leading into next year? Momentum is real and you have it within yourself.
